Import works from images

Add an artwork for each image in a folder.

If you have a folder full of images of your works, but no spreadsheet or structured list, you can start with that folder.

Each image in the folder will become an artwork with the image attached, titled based on the filename. You can fill in the rest of the details later from the Valise UI.

Importing into Valise

  1. Go to the Settings → Import / Export page.
  2. Click the Images button.
  3. Drag and drop a folder of images, or click to select the images.
  4. Review the preview to confirm the artworks that will be added.
  5. Press Import, and keep the page open until the images finish uploading.

Images in folders inside the one you drop come in too, each as its own artwork. You can import up to 5,000 images at a time.

Titles

An artwork is titled after its image’s filename, without the extension and with underscores read as spaces. Blue_Horizon.jpg becomes an artwork titled “Blue Horizon”. To start with the titles you want, rename the files before you import them.

Importing again

When you add images to the folder, you can import the whole folder again. Images that were already imported are skipped, so only the new ones become artworks, and any image that didn’t finish uploading the first time is uploaded.

An image counts as already imported while its filename and the image itself stay the same, wherever it sits in the folder. A renamed or edited image comes in as a new artwork.
