Categorize and group your artworks

Tags are flexible labels you can apply to artworks to group them by any criteria you choose. For example:

  • Style or medium (“Oil”, “Watercolor”, “Sculpture”)
  • Subject matter (“Portrait”, “Landscape”, “Still life”)
  • A series or body of work the piece belongs to
  • Internal status flags (“Needs framing”, “Ready to ship”)
  • Anything else that’s meaningful for your practice

An artwork (or individual edition) can have any number of tags applied at once.

Tags differ from collections, which are curated, ordered sets of works meant to be presented or shared. Reach for tags when you want to label works for filtering and finding related pieces across your vault.

Fields

  • Title: the name of this tag. This is what you’ll see when choosing from the tag picker, so use whatever name will help you recognize it.

Managing tags

To view all the tags in your vault, or edit any tag, go to the Tags settings page. From here you’ll see a list of all your tags along with how many artworks each is applied to. You can create new tags, or edit and delete existing ones.

Renaming a tag updates it everywhere it’s applied. Deleting a tag removes it from every artwork it’s applied to, and cannot be undone.

Applying tags

To add a tag to an artwork, open the artwork and use the Tags field in the details panel. You can apply any number of tags to a single artwork, and for editioned works tags can also be applied to individual editions.

Once you’ve tagged your artworks, you can filter by tag on the artworks page to see all works with a particular label.
